Project Orphanage
safe hands safe house

After seeing the plight of the children in Indonesian Orphanages, Bali at Home has decided to help.

Orphanages in Indonesia have no funding from the government and rely on donations from the community to survive. Many have little to no books or toys, food is basic, meat or fresh fruit and vegetables are rarely served, bedding and clothing are all used and are often in very poor condition and they often have one bucket of cold water to share for bathing and a couple of tooth brushes for the entire orphanage to share. Bali at Home is “adopting” two orphanages.

We are providing the basics first as well as bringing some light into their lives. Some of the items we are providing are - dishwashing liquid, powdered milk, cooking oil, mattresses, books, toys, bicycles (for riding to school), a fence for one to secure a safe playing area, paint for walls to brighten up rooms plus more. We will then look into helping the children and orphanages be more self sufficient and to become “micro businesses” with the help of training and business ideas such as setting up external food stalls where the children learn to cook food at the orphanage and sell to the local community.

We will provide regular updates and photos of how we are helping. Every single cent we raise or Bali at Home donates will go directly to the orphanages. Bali at Home will absorb all administration costs. Unfortunately the Australian Government does not allow donations to foreign countries as a tax deduction, however if you would like to donate (we will still provide you with a receipt), then please email us at shop@baliathome.com.au (we cannot accept donations of goods as we have no way of shipping back to Indonesia at present).

Phil and Kids

Bali at Home is in the process of obtaining quotes to rebuild the kitchen in one of our orphanages and supply a mobile food cart to the orphanage. We will then organise cooking training plus cooking utensils and food. This way the children can cook some favourite local dishes and sell them to the local community in an effort for them to be more self sufficient.
The children now have a safe playing area. They are also utilising part of this space for growing vegetables for internal use and to sell to the local community.
